YUKON JACK

Yukon Jack is the younger half of the Destination Doo-Wop team.  While just a babe during the gold days of Doo-Wop, Yukon was introduced to the sound by Jungle Jim while working together on an oldies radio show in the suburbs of Springfield, Massachusetts.  Deejaying with the Jungle man, attending oldies shows and meeting some of the great names of Doo-Wop made a Doo-Wop lover out of Yukon.  Yukon's radio DJ career started with the Connecticut School of Broadcasting where he learned the technique of being a radio personality.  After that, it was college at the University of Hartford and their FM station WWUH, 91.3 FM and later at the University of Massachusetts and their FM station WMUA, 91 FM.  Yukon also teamed up with Jungle Jim on the non-defunct WCEL(FM) and WILB(FM) in Wilbraham, Mass. and doing oldies shows in the greater Springfield area.  Yukon is now an attorney for the FCC and is married and has three lovely daughters.  Yukon is also the official webmaster for the site and contributes his time and energy making sure that Destination Doo-Wop is one of the most outstanding sites on the Internet for the group sound.

ANTHONY TODARO

Anthony Todaro joined the Destination Doo-Wop crew in 2001 and has been an invaluable asset to the web site and radio network.  Ant's knowledge of music, the music business, as well as his creative talents have helped to make Destination Doo-Wop the internet's #1 place for group harmony!

Anthony Todaro is one of those guys that could probably do anything. When he’s not using his hands to build or repair something for someone, or working on one of his other hobbies, like model railroading, he’s pursuing his first love - creating beautiful music.

Meeting Anthony Todaro for the first time in person, he leaves a very definite first impression. He’s almost larger than life with his gregarious, happy-go-lucky personality. And listening to him talk about music is an interesting experience. Here is a guy that doesn’t just enjoy music – he listens to it carefully, dissecting it, note-by-note, catching every subtle nuance of the arrangement and performance. “Did you hear that…. that note there,” he’ll say as you sit there wondering what he is talking about. Music to Ant is not just about singing or playing an instrument – it’s about creating a thing of beauty. This is a guy who really loves music, singing and performing. And that love comes through in everything he does - from his recording, to his live performances with his group, to his web site and group promotion and his weekly on-line radio show.

Anthony’s family owned a luncheonette in South Philly with a jukebox filled with the records of the day. Anthony recalls as kid hearing guys singing on the street corner near the store and watching Bandstand with his older sister every afternoon. It was also at this time that his father and mother purchased his first guitar and formal music lessons followed. Years later, the store closed and Anthony ended with the 45's from the jukebox. It was those hours of listening to vocal groups that sparked Anthony's interest in singing. "I always enjoyed good singing, whether it be doo-wop, gospel or pop - it didn't matter - you hear that harmony you know its there." After a two year stint in the US Army Anthony came back to Philadelphia to pursue life as a civilian. He formed a trio with two other local men and the group (Fantasy) performed at all of the local nightspots in the area. Says Anthony “In those days we were working 3 three to five nights a week so you got real good real fast or you just did not work.”

In 1996 New Harmony was formed. Teaming up first with Joe and Chuck they started doing three-part harmony. Later they added a fourth member Frank. Frank left the group due to personal obligations but remains very close to the group personally and professionally and, has been instrumental working behind the scenes with administrative and computer work. Buddy joined the group in 1998 as second tenor and the sound was born. "We knew we had something after the second or third time we got together," recalls Anthony. Over the years, New Harmony has had the pleasure of performing on numerous occasions with some of the big names in the world of group harmony and entertainment, like the Skyliners, Charlie Gracie, the Duprees and Danny and Juniors. "We're not a stiff group," says Anthony, "we have a good time." In 2000, the group did a memorable show at the Sands Casino in Atlantic City.

Anthony has created music with both New Harmony, the Accords, and as a solo artist. The New Harmony recordings are no ordinary contemporary offerings. There is a unique level of professionalism in these CDs - both from a performance and production standpoint. Their most recent CD - Yours Truly - includes a terrific mix of classic group harmony selections and original material. On Yours Truly, Anthony’s harmonic ability shines through, as well as his songwriting and creative talent. Beautiful harmonies and melodies abound on such songs as Ant’s “ Hear in My Heart’ and “This Is Living Without You” (co-written by Anthony and friend Mike Saia in 1977). Just from listening to their CD's, you can tell that the group spends hours refining their sound and ensuring that the recording quality of their CD's is top notch. And that is in no smart part because of Anthony Todaro.

“I don’t know what fate has in store for me. I just put it on Gods hands. As long as
people enjoy the music I’ll keep singing and performing.“  At this writing, Anthony has his own web site (www.antsdoowopdiner.com) and is preparing to record more 50’s and 60’s style material as a solo artist.  Doing his Monday evening show, the Doo Wop Diner on Destination Doo Wop and working with other talented artists in the studio.
