 The Wayback Machine
Executive Producer:  Yukon Jack

Over the weekend, we give all our hard working jocks some time off and we bring you the Wayback Machine!  We have consulted with International Business Machines (IBM) and they designed a special machine that we have installed at our headquarters at Harmony Hill and loaded with 1000+ songs from the 1950's and early 1960's (see the picture above).  All weekend long, the Wayback Machine will take control of Destination Doo-Wop.  You'll hear doo-wop, rock and roll and pop hits from that great era with jingles and promos mixed in. A far-out musical experience each and every weekend!

The Wax Museum
Host and Executive Producer:
Curator Jim

Jim heard his first rock’n’roll tunes in the mid-fifties in New Haven when he began to listen to radio show Juke Box Saturday Night on WELI-AM hosted by DJ Carl Loukes and watch Connecticut Bandstand on WNHC-TV hosted by DJ Jim Gallant.   Jim became a record collector in 1960-1961 when he bought copies of “If I Didn’t Care” by the Platters and “Diamonds and Pearls” by the Paradons. It was also at that time that Jim began to listen to DJ George Tucker on WNHC-AM who played group “oldies”. George played records like “My Girl Awaits Me” by the Castelles and “Peppermint Stick” by the Elchords that Jim was hearing for the first time. Jim began to collect them too.  In 1970 Jim began to listen to New York DJ Gus Gossert who played the group sounds under their new name – Doo-Wops. The music had come alive again. In 1973 Jim decided to start his own 1950’s style group harmony show on WNHU-FM in West Haven. Jim called his show The Wax Museum Show.  He patterned it after what George and Gus had done. Since 1973 Jim has done a variety of regular and guest shows on a number of stations.   He has interviewed many performers on the air including Fred Parris of the Five Satins, Otis Williams of the Charms, and Terry Johnson of the Flamingos.   He is very happy to be a member of the DJ staff of Destination Doowop.  To reach Jim:  jimsbsr@yahoo.com
